RAMIE: Ramie is a natural plant fibre. Similar to linen, it is also characterised by a silky sheen.
- SUMMER LOOK: The linen-effect texture gives your fabric a summery lightness.
- LINEN FABRICS: Fabrics made from bast fibres are referred to as linen. The most common bast fibre is flax or linseed, which is where linen gets its name. Other bast fibres that can be used to make linen fabrics include hemp and ramie.
- Textiles made from bast fibres, for example flax, ramie, hemp or real nettle fibres, should be washed before processing as they can shrink considerably.
- YOUR SEWING PROJECT: We recommend using a size 70 to 80 universal needle to sew this fabric. This fabric is easy to work with, making it ideal for sewing newbies.
