Children’s beach poncho sewing tutorial

Description

A bath poncho is not only nice after a bath or shower: a warm poncho like this is also a must-have for a day at the beach to keep kids warm after swimming in the water. Download our swim poncho pattern and make a unique terry poncho with hood.

Instructions

  1. Print out the sewing pattern. The test box must be 5cm x 5cm. Stick the pattern piece for the hood (A) together along the line at a and 1.
  2. Cut the poncho according to the schematic on the last page. The length of the poncho can be changed as needed. It should be around knee-length. The poncho in the picture is 60cm x 75cm. To round the corners, use piece B. To cut out the neck hole, place piece C at the centre. The front and back are the same. All pattern pieces already have a 1cm seam allowance.
  3. Sew the shoulder seams. Sew the hood seams at the front and back, then finish the edges. Now sew the hood to the neck hole and finish the edges.
  4. Encase the outer edges of the poncho and hood opening with bias tape.
  5. Your swimming poncho is all done.
