Sew your capsule wardrobe

A capsule wardrobe helps you curate a distinct style whilst limiting the amount of pieces in your wardrobe. The aim is to select a set of simple garments that can be combined into a variety of outfits throughout the year. Add a few patterns or colours, and you'll always have a stylish outfit available. We'll show you how to sew your perfect capsule wardrobe.

How a capsule wardrobe works:

The aim of a capsule wardrobe is to fill it with your absolute favourite items, avoiding the common phenomenon of having a full wardrobe but nothing to wear. Repeatedly wearing the same items also promotes more sustainable consumer behaviour as very few new items are purchased. If a new garment is actually needed, you can invest in much higher quality and sew clothes that really suit you!

For each spring/summer and autumn/winter season, your wardrobe will consist of about 30 pieces. Sportswear, underwear, socks and pyjamas are excluded.

  1. Examine your wardrobe - Make a general assessment and ask yourself what are my favourite things to wear? Which colours and patterns do I like? Which style suits me? Clothes that have not been worn for months are put to one side. These can be sold or given away so that someone else can enjoy them.
  2.  Combine different outfits - Look at the clothes you are keeping and make sure all the items combine well. Try to choose your basics in a harmonious colour scheme that you like. Some patterned and colourful designs will complement your pared-down wardrobe.
  3. Sew a capsule wardrobe - The same rule applies to every capsule wardrobe: learning by doing. Only once you start living with this small selection of clothes does it become clear which items you need and which you do not. Find inspiration from your favourite fashion labels and plan your next sewing projects to complement your capsule wardrobe!

It is very important for your new capsule wardrobe to be fun to wear!
